The nefarious emails cited above don't exist. My entire side of the "conversation" with the professors consisted of 2 emails. Nothing else. nada. No verbal or written communication. They went off the deep end because I disagreed with them. And they repeatedly called it "sexual harassment" (per faculty assembly transcripts!) and linked it to my suggestion of the book.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26192713.post-24553911130615268582007-03-23T11:03:00.000-06:002007-03-23T11:03:00.000-06:00Too Diverse to be "Diversity"Too Diverse to be "Diversity"Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26192713.post-2326801272801851512007-03-21T09:58:00.000-06:002007-03-21T09:58:00.000-06:00Hi, I'm the librarian in question. There's ...Hi, I'm the librarian in question.

There's no mystery here at all. I didn't pinch anyone or make any salacious comments.

I was on a committee. I was told that the University had an OBLIGATION to uphold its values of pro-sexual orientation diversity and anti-"Christian fundamentalism" in choosing a book for the reading experience. I countered by noting that the overarching goal of all universities should not be enforced orthodoxy, but rather openness to opposing sides of all questions. I underlined my point by suggesting four books that challenge this orthodoxy of current "university values."

That's it. The mob ruled, and yes, the entire faculty really did vote to charge me with "sexual harassment," which they later rescinded.

The reason you find it hard to believe is because these are your people. You are not experiencing a "mystery."

You are experiencing cognitive dissonance.

My advice to you is to do as Chairman Deng Xiaoping commands you: "Seek truth...from facts." The facts of this case are all in writing. You can access most of the relevant documents at:
http://www.alliancedefensefund.org/news/story.aspx?cid=3724Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
